Inspiration
I just bought a motorcycle and have been constantly checking the weather for a good time to ride it. I thought of making a widget for my phone so instead of looking at everything individually all the factors would be included into a score of how likely I would want to ride in the current and future conditions
What it does
Estimates how you would like to ride during current weather conditions based on your preferences and the current weather
How we built it
Built using React
Challenges we ran into
Getting accurate location data without using gps, a good equation to account for riders' preferences that calculates likelihood,
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm not really a UI/UX guy but I feel it looks good and is very easy to use Finding out the equation to give a good estimate on how the rider would feel about the weather conditions
What we learned
I learned a lot more about React, it has been a while since I last used it and I didn't get that far into it last time. I learned how to transfer data through localStorage. I also some more about CSS and how to position things how I want them.
What's next for Fair weather rider
Add the ability to include other constraints for the estimation like wind speed, traffic levels, and daylight. Also connect a database to store users' and their preferences so that don't have to input them every time.
