Inspiration

Have you ever received a phone call about a relative or friend who has experienced a health scare? It’s a moment that brings a rush of anxiety and concern, leaving you feeling helpless and uncertain about what to do next. We’ve all been there, grappling with the fear of not being able to help when it matters most. At HeartHero, we understand the urgency and emotional toll that such situations can take on individuals and families. That’s why we are dedicated to transforming this shared experience into a proactive solution.

What it does

HeartHero is designed to connect users experiencing urgent health issues with nearby responders through advanced real-time tracking and heart monitoring capabilities. The application alerts trained individuals in the vicinity, ensuring timely assistance for those in need using cutting-edge 5G technology. In addition to emergency response features, HeartHero offers comprehensive heart rate tracking over time and facilitates the creation of personalized health profiles. The platform also includes multi-personnel tracking, empowering users to take charge of their health and safety as well as others.

How we built it

Challenges

Initially, we faced challenges in deciding which idea to pursue. After deliberating over several concepts, we ultimately chose to develop a tracking solution for individuals at risk of health crises.

One of the unexpected hurdles we encountered was the compatibility of the NetworkAsCode platform with personal devices. We initially believed the platform could fully support personal IP addresses and device IDs, which would allow us to integrate real-time location data into our code. However, that wasn't the case.

To overcome this limitation, we adapted by using simulated location data, enabling us to continue with the development of our full-stack application. This allowed us to "integrate" location tracking while maintaining the core functionality of the platform.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

At HeartHero, we take immense pride in the thought, dedication, and collaborative effort that each team member has contributed to building this life-changing application. From the initial concept to the final product, every detail has been carefully crafted with the end goal of saving lives and empowering individuals. Through persistence, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to our mission, we persevered. The result is an application we are incredibly proud of.

What we learned

We gained valuable experience in integrating the NetworkAsCode platform to address a critical real-world issue that significantly impacts our society. Although initially challenging to understand, thorough exploration of the platform’s documentation, coupled with insights gained from attending workshops, enabled us to overcome these complexities and effectively implement the solution. Additionally, we leveraged React Native, a new framework for our team, which offered us a streamlined development process through its pre-built templates and extensive libraries.

What's next for Faint of Heart

Moving forward, we aim to enhance HeartHero by integrating additional features such as advanced predictive analytics for health monitoring and AI-driven insights for early detection of potential heart issues. We also plan to expand the app's functionality by partnering with healthcare providers, enabling real-time data sharing with medical professionals for more immediate and informed interventions. We also intend to refine our use of 5G technology to optimize the speed and accuracy of location tracking, ensuring that responders are alerted even faster. Lastly, we aim to continue improving the user experience by introducing multi-language support and ensuring compatibility with a broader range of devices, making HeartHero accessible to more people worldwide. Ultimately, our goal is to evolve HeartHero into a vital tool for both everyday health management and emergency situations.
