Inspiration
Our project inspiration arose from the fact that everyone in our team is interested in pursuing a career in Data Science. Since the RowdyHacks theme is all about dinosaurs, we then decided to create a website that allows a user to check out some fun facts about the most dinosaur-like movie ever: Jurassic Park!
What it does
Our website has a home page in which there is a button that leads to a timeline of the whole Jurassic Park movie saga. There are also two tabs: one leads to an "About" page where we explain the "story of the CEO of the company that built the website" and another tab for a contact page that leads to a PDF giving an overview of ASA (Stats Club) of which all of our team members are a part of. Underneath the page, there are some buttons that users can click to check out some graphs gathered from the dataset and an infographic containing information about dinosaur zones also gathered from the dataset.
How we built it
One of our team members was in charge of creating the website and making it look nice, while the other team members were in charge of cleaning the dataset and getting some insights from it. Additionally, two team members created the infographic and AI generated pictures with Adobe Express.
Challenges we ran into
Since 2/3 of our team members had never used Python before, it was kind of a challenge for them to not only learn the programming language but also implement it right away. Though, they all pulled it off!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our team members are proud to have implemented some Python code as they had never coded in this programming language before. We are also proud to have been able to complete the project on time.
What we learned
Like stated above, our team members learned how to use Python, HTML, CSS, and Adobe Express.
What's next for Facts-O-Saurus
We would love to get more data together and implement it on the website.
