FactoryOS AI
Inspiration
Modern factories generate huge amounts of operational data every day, including machine telemetry, safety inspections, energy usage, and compliance records. However, this information is often stored in disconnected spreadsheets, making it difficult to identify problems before they become expensive failures.
Many industrial analytics platforms rely on cloud infrastructure, complex integrations, and expensive subscriptions. That made us ask a simple question:
Can meaningful factory intelligence be delivered entirely on-device, while keeping sensitive operational data private?
That question became the foundation of FactoryOS AI.
What it does
FactoryOS AI is a privacy-first factory intelligence platform that transforms operational data into actionable insights.
Users simply upload CSV files containing machine, safety, energy, and compliance information. The platform processes everything locally in the browser and generates:
- Factory Health Score
- Machine Risk Analysis
- Safety Compliance Monitoring
- Energy Consumption Analysis
- Compliance Tracking
- Statistical Anomaly Detection
- AI Commander Executive Summary
- Executive PDF Reports
- Interactive Analytics Dashboard
No cloud storage, external AI services, or API keys are required.
How we built it
FactoryOS AI was built using a modern web technology stack focused on performance, transparency, and privacy.
Frontend
- React 19
- TypeScript
- Vite
- Tailwind CSS
- Shadcn UI
Backend
- Node.js
- Express
- Docker
Data Processing
Instead of relying on external AI models, FactoryOS AI uses deterministic intelligence engines written in TypeScript.
These engines evaluate maintenance risks, safety performance, energy efficiency, compliance gaps, and statistical anomalies before combining the results into a unified Factory Health Score and executive operational summary.
Because all processing happens inside the browser, sensitive factory data never leaves the user's device.
Challenges we ran into
Building FactoryOS AI required balancing performance, usability, and privacy.
Some of the biggest challenges included:
- Designing an intuitive dashboard capable of presenting multiple operational domains without overwhelming users.
- Processing uploaded datasets efficiently inside the browser.
- Creating explainable intelligence rather than opaque outputs.
- Generating professional PDF reports without relying on server-side rendering.
- Building a responsive interface that remains fast while handling multiple datasets simultaneously.
Another major challenge was ensuring the application remained completely functional without requiring cloud services or external API keys.
What we learned
This project reinforced that powerful software does not always require cloud computing or large AI models.
We learned how deterministic algorithms, statistical analysis, and thoughtful interface design can deliver practical operational insights while keeping users in full control of their data.
We also gained valuable experience designing scalable React applications, organizing complex data visualizations, and building browser-first analytical systems.
What's next
FactoryOS AI represents the first step toward a more intelligent and privacy-first manufacturing platform.
Future development includes:
- Real-time IoT sensor integration
- Predictive maintenance models
- Digital twin support
- Explainable decision support
- Historical trend forecasting
- Multi-factory management
- Edge computing deployment
- Automated workflow recommendations
Our long-term vision is to make advanced factory intelligence accessible to manufacturers of every size while preserving privacy, transparency, and complete ownership of operational data.
