Inspiration
We were inspired by the prevalence of misinformation in media and the everyday world, and how difficult it is to reliably fact-check in order to form your own worldview. This project was designed to encourage greater transparency between how media supports their information, allowing the average person to get an understanding for the fundamentals of a piece of information.
What it does
It provides a way for media to organize information in a way that both encourages transparency and honesty while also providing an easy fact-building experience.
How I built it
I built this project alongside my teammates with a Rust backend server to handle the database and with a front-end written with React to provide a nice user experience.
Challenges I ran into
Writing React UI was more difficult than we predicted and we spent a majority of our available time writing it.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud on our ability to learn multiple libraries and collaborate together on a larger project.
What I learned
We learned both about our strengths as programmers and the difficulty of easily organizing information.
What's next for FactMatrix
We plan to expand the project, streamline the process of collecting and implementing facts, and fixing bugs present in the website.
