Inspiration

In today's digital world, misinformation spreads rapidly, creating confusion and mistrust. Recognizing the critical need for trustworthy information, we were inspired to build Fact Den—a decentralized platform aimed at empowering users to share, discuss, and verify content reliably.

What it does

Fact Den is a decentralized fact-checking platform built on the Internet Computer, allowing users to share posts, engage in discussions, and verify information through AI-powered fact-checking. It leverages Perplexity AI to automatically assess the accuracy of user-generated content, promoting transparency and integrity online.

How we built it

We built Fact Den using advanced technologies:

Backend: Developed with Motoko on Dfinity's Internet Computer, ensuring decentralization, content permanence, and censorship resistance.
Frontend: Implemented using React.js and SCSS for a responsive and user-friendly interface.
AI Integration: Integrated Perplexity AI's API to deliver real-time, automated fact-checking verdicts.
Authentication: Leveraged Internet Identity for secure, decentralized user authentication.

Challenges we ran into
