Inspiration
Our initial motivation was to protect our loved ones from false information, AI-generated videos, and deepfakes. We were also frustrated by Instagram videos that don’t provide enough context or fail to explain important details. Finally, we wanted a tool that’s easy to use and accessible with as few steps as possible.
What it does
The app works like this: when you’re on Instagram and want to check whether the information in a picture or video is true, you simply tap the Share button and send it to our app. The app opens, presents you with several options, and after you choose what you want to check, it provides a clear and reliable response.
How we built it
We built the app using Flutter, Xcode, n8n, and various API tools.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into limitations with free versions of certain tools, which made quick setup difficult. However, this is manageable for future development—it’s definitely not impossible.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a solid app prototype and successfully integrated automation using n8n.
What we learned
What's next for Fact checker
Our next step is to research the most effective and cost-efficient methods for AI and deepfake detection. We want to determine whether it’s better to train and run our own model or use an existing online tool—many of which can be expensive, especially for video.
