Inspiration

Over the years of working as a trainer, workshop facilitator and teacher, the biggest challenge I always faced while preparing my sessions is to design and deliver activities that help me reach the learning objectives of the session while keeping the audience engaged and not bored.

To do so, I used to spend hours searching for new acitivites related to the topic (seaching on Google, browsing known libraries, watching Youtube videos...etc) , hoping to find something that would fit the context and meet the requirements. Sometimes I get lucky and find something close, but most of the times, I ended up squeezing the juices of my brain to try to design an activity from scratch, which sometimes takes hours of brainstorming.

During that process, I always wished to have a one-click solution that would design such activities for me and free me from the hours of hopeless searching and brainstorming. I could spend that time on something more meaningful to the session than searching. That's what FaciBuddy solves.

What it does

FaciBuddy collects from its users inputs related to the session or workshop, such as: topic, context, learning objective, audience, activity type...etc. Then uses AI to generated custom activities according to those inputs. In addition to the activity ideas, FaciBuddy provides facilitation materials and guidelines. For example, in a role-play activity, it generates the roles and provides scenarios for each. That way, the users can export them and use them directly in their session.

How we built it

Simply, I used my idea as a seed, then used ChatGPT to explore different options and turn it into a product, and finally, used Bolt.new to build it.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges I faced were UX-related. I tried to create a smooth user experience, taking in consideration that the product targets different customer segments, with different customer profiles, therefore, I had to make very critical decisions UX-wise.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Simply shipping FaciBuddy is an accomplishment I'm proud of. I believe that the problem is prominent and the solution bring value to its potential users.

What we learned

Honestly, the main thing I learned is how to best use Bolt.new to reach the results I desire. I've been trying to ship different products using strictly Bolt.new (no other development tool) for the past few months and I faced some walls in most of the projects I started. This experience on the other hand helped me shape an approach that allowed me to reach my vision in a better way.

What's next for FaciBuddy

I consider FaciBuddy an MVP for something that can be much bigger, therefore, my next step is to use it to gain a better perspective about its users to see how to serve this customer segment in a better way. I believe in the potential of this niche, I'm sure the product will keep evolving with its users.
