Inspiration
Our team drew inspiration from a gap in the beauty market, specifically the lack of assistive virtual technology for applying makeup in real-time. Existing solutions in the market cater more towards photo editing rather than providing educational value for makeup application.
What it does
Our solution, FaceMe, leverages AI and AR technology to guide users with visual impairments in applying makeup on one half of their face to match the other.
How we built it
We started with pen and paper to develop our idea and later used Figma to create mockups.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered challenges in understanding the limitations of AI and AR while also ensuring that our app felt supportive and human.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the challenges, we are proud to have created an inclusive and accessible solution that utilises AI and AR technology to solve a meaningful issue and enhance the user experience within the beauty industry.
What we learned
We learned that while AI and AR have limits, rapid advancements in technology make our solution feasible. We borrowed facial mapping technology present in social media apps like Snapchat and Instagram to enhance the lives of people living with disabilities.
What's next for FaceMe
Moving forward, we plan to gather feedback from stakeholders and users to iterate on our solution. We will further develop the prototype and collaborate with engineers to bring FaceMe to life.
