Inspiration Blending the nostalgic charm of retro arcade racing with modern F1 data precision, we envisioned a simulation that’s as fun as it is insightful.
What It Does F1 Retro Racer simulates a retro F1 race, collecting live telemetry (lap times, braking, tire wear, ERS) and uses a simple AI model to suggest performance upgrades.
How We Built It We developed a MATLAB GUI with multiple panels for simulation, performance graphs, analysis, and upgrades. Real-time data is collected and analyzed using linear regression to generate upgrade suggestions.
Challenges We Ran Into Synchronizing live data with UI updates and managing deleted handles during rapid simulation were key technical hurdles we overcame.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of We successfully merged a retro racing aesthetic with real-time data analysis and interactive upgrade features into one seamless experience.
What We Learned We deepened our knowledge of real-time data management, UI design, and integrating basic AI into a simulation, all while balancing classic design with modern functionality.
What's Next for F1 Data Analysis We plan to explore advanced machine learning models, expand telemetry data, and eventually bring multiplayer and cross-platform support to enhance the experience.
