Inspiration

Living in L.A. and seeing the destruction fires caused urged me to find a way to help. With this device, fires will be detected earlier, minimizing their destruction.

What it does

Detects smoke and fire and alerts those nearby with a visual and audio alarm. Sends an email to the user and urges them to take action.

How we built it

Built with a Raspberry Pi and model from Hugging Face.

Challenges we ran into

Soldering connections continuously fell off and needed redone.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That it works from 25 feet away!

What we learned

Always have a working version for live demos.

What's next for F.L.A.E.M.

Hoping to make the audio and visual alerts more noticeable.
