F-010- Manassik Volunteer

Inspiration

Our team got inspired from the fact that there are so many people who wish to volunteer in the Hajj seasons and the fact that the number of the manpower is too small in comparison to the huge number of pilgrims estimated at 2 Million pilgrims. Our app, basically, targets the two aforementioned points; it gives the acts as a bridge that connects the pilgrims in need with volunteers who wish to help and reduce the pressure on the manpower.

What it does

Our application, basically acts as a bridge that connects pilgrims and Umrah performers with volunteers who are willing to offer help with a set of problems that pilgrims and Umrah performers encounter whilst doing their Manassik. Examples of the aforementioned problems encompass food serving problems, language and communication problems, the movement of disabled people and health problems.

How we built it

Upon pinpointing the idea, we distributed the roles among us. Two members took care of the development part and two others took care of the design part whereas the fifth member took care of writing the app content. JavaScript, Firebase, Google Cloud Platform, Cloud Function and React Native are the main solutions that our team made use of to create the app.

Challenges we ran into

Like any other mission, a set of challenges encountered us on the way towards creating our app. Some of these include the difficulty of selecting the right idea that has not been exhausted and that can be executed in the allocated time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As far as the accomplishments are concerned, we would say making it through and being selected among thousands of applicants to take part in this huge event is the first achievement we are proud of the most. Another accomplishment we are proud of is the fact that all of our team members did their best to execute the project idea.

What we learned

During working on our project, each member of our team definitely learned new things. Some of us discovered his strengths and weakness points. Some learned the importance of collaborative work. Some realized the importance of resilience.

What's next for F-010- Manassik Volunteer

Further improvement is definitely our app's next step, for we believe that it is a practical project that would be of help to many parties in the Hajj given the fact that it solves a number of problems entailing reduction of prssure on the human resources
