The Team
Vibe Back was born in San Diego, created by two software developers who are also passionate musicians and producers. Our combined experience in both technology and creative fields gave us a unique perspective on the challenges creators face when seeking meaningful feedback on their work.
The Problem
As creators, we were frustrated with the limitations of traditional feedback methods. Most responses were vague and non-specific—"it was good" or "I liked it"—without any reference to particular moments or sections that resonated or needed improvement. We realized this was a universal challenge for all creators of time-based media, whether music, videos, podcasts, or presentations.
The standard approach for most creators was to use basic tools like notepad to track feedback, with no way to correlate comments to specific timestamps or visualize patterns across multiple listeners.
The Solution
We envisioned a tool that would capture reactions at specific timestamps, creating a detailed map of audience response throughout the entire piece. This led to the creation of Vibe Back—a platform that allows anyone to provide moment-by-moment feedback using an intuitive vibe slider, emoji reactions, and likes.
The visualization is powerful in its simplicity:
- V-shaped dips in your vibe graph instantly highlight areas that need attention
- Peaks show your strongest moments
- Interactive elements encourage honest, detailed feedback
Understanding the importance of both private and public feedback, we built Vibe Back to support both workflows:
- Private tracks for targeted feedback from specific collaborators
- Public tracks to gather insights from the wider community
The Result
What started as a solution to our own problem has evolved into a powerful tool that's changing how creators receive, visualize, and act on feedback. Beyond just online media, our standalone Vibe Session mode lets you capture feedback on live performances, room audio, or any media playing outside the browser—making it versatile for countless creative scenarios.
Creators now have access to detailed, timestamp-specific feedback that helps them identify exactly which parts of their content resonate with audiences and which parts need improvement—replacing scattered notes with meaningful, actionable insights.
