EZ File Encrypter

Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project was our shared interest in keeping our personal files safe on our devices. As we are all students we often leave our laptops under the guard of our friends to go buy lunch and while we may trust our friends, a little extra security never hurt anyone.

What it does

Our application encrypts files and apps to be completely un-openable and unusable we decrypt it, all with a click of a button.

How we built it

We built this application all in python, and with the help of the pySimpleGui API we made a easy to use interface.

Challenges we ran into

As this was our first hackathon we ran into troubles with working on different pieces of or project then bringing it all together. We all had a slightly different vision for our project and when we brought the bits of our code to put together we often had to take some time understanding what the others had done and change our code to better integrate with each other. However as a result we have learned better communication skills.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are all proud of having completed an easy to use app that we can see ourselves using to keep out own files hidden or temporarily unusable.

What we learned

Aside from the teamworking skilled we have learned, we have also learned a lot from the workshops that were held this past weekend.

What's next for EZ File Encrypter

Given more time we would have liked to improve our UI to be more aesthetically pleasing and if we were to revisit this project at a later date that would be the first thing to work on.
