Inspiration

Inspiration is seeing that 47 percent of Airbnb owners have hidden cameras in there bnbs which is an invasion of privacy and breach of trust.

What it does

EyeSpy is a travel safety platform which enables users to rapidly assess the safety of hotel rooms and short-term rental properties as soon as they arrive. 47 percent of Airbnb owners have hidden cameras in there bnbs so our idea is to combat this unwanted attention and breach of privacy. Utilising your phone to ‘walk around’ the room, EyeSpy scans the space for threats such as inadequate door and locks, exposed cabling, missing safety equipment and unverified network activity. It then outputs a safety report with concise results and verbal feedback. The verified report can then be shared, printed, saved for evidence or peace of mind. The EyeSpy MVP utilises AI, device scanning and report generation technology integrated into a seamless web-based experience.

How we built it

We bulit it using Python, FastAPI, GemeniAPI, React, TypeScript, Vite.

Challenges we ran into

Live scan had browser-specific challenges around camera permissions, media stream handling, and resetting the feed cleanly between scans.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have finished this project with an product overcoming hours of debugging.

What we learned

We learned live scan is real-time camera analysis, while photo scan and upload image are still-image analysis paths that turn one room image into a full safety report.

What's next for EyeSpy

We want to add in a rf scanner so it is able to detect very hidden cameras through a scan. Increasing the capabilities of the GeminiAPI as well.
