Eyes-on-Ads

Inspiration

We are working on this idea as our senior project for the bachelor degree in software engineering from College of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Jeddah. Some of the fields that we focused on in our study was human-computer interaction and UX design. These fields are referring to the importance of analyzing the user interaction. One of the trend ways to do this analysis is the eye-tracking technique and we are really interested in it. We decided that our senior project would be based on the use of this technology. Then we started searching for the fields that need this technology, and one of the most important ones was the field of marketing. We have chosen to focus on the field of marketing and advertising. So our senior project is about developing an application that uses eye-tracking technology to analyze the quality of electronic advertisements, which supports the of e-commerce field.

What it does

Eyes-on-Ads is an application that help the marketing representatives to improve their advertisement design, by using the eye tracking technology to generates heatmaps and comparing them with the heatmaps generated by the advertiser earlier.

How we built it

We built it first by analyzing all the aspects by doing a small research in previews paper and then lay down the functional requirements and developed the prototype. then we start considering what languages we will use in developing the application and start to implement it.

Challenges we ran into

We had to take a courses in Mobile application development since it is out first time to develop an application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have invented new idea that we believe it will make a significant help to the advertisers and commercial companies in reduce the cost of the failed advertisements and increase the success of the advertising campaigns. And it will help in improve the level of the advertisements in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

What we learned

We learned more about human computer interaction and how is important the user experience in the software.

What's next for Eyes-on-Ads

1- Give useful recommendations for each poster to improve 2- Allow analyzing advertising videos 3- Develop a website that follows the application 4- Add up simple gifts to encourage testing users to participate
