The inspiration for EyeCare Insights came from witnessing the accessibility gap in healthcare education during a routine eye exam. I observed patients struggling to understand basic eye health concepts and leaving with more questions than answers. Despite being incredibly knowledgeable, the ophthalmologist didn't have enough time to address every concern thoroughly.

This experience highlighted a critical problem: expert-level medical information exists, but it's often locked behind medical jargon, expensive consultations, or unreliable internet sources. Millions of people were making important decisions about their vision health based on incomplete or inaccurate information.

The vision was clear: create an AI-powered platform to democratize access to evidence-based eye health education, making expert knowledge available to everyone, anytime, anywhere.

What it does

EyeCare Insights is a comprehensive AI-driven web application that revolutionizes eye health education through four core features:

🤖 Intelligent Q&A System: Users can ask any eye health question and receive expert-level answers powered by Perplexity AI, with responses from trusted medical sources including PubMed, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and National Eye Institute.

🔍 Myths vs Facts Hub: An AI-powered system that identifies and debunks common eye health misconceptions, providing evidence-based facts with scientific explanations in an easy-to-understand format.

📚 Latest Research Center: Curates cutting-edge discoveries from the past 6 months in eye health and vision science, focusing on peer-reviewed research from recognized institutions with structured presentation of findings.

👥 Age-Specific Care Guidance: Provides personalized eye health advice tailored for four distinct life stages - Children (0-12), Teenagers (13-19), Adults (20-64), and Seniors (65+) - with recommendations targeted to each group's unique vision risks and needs.

The platform integrates comprehensive safety frameworks with medical disclaimers, emphasizing educational purposes while encouraging professional medical consultation.

How we built it
