Inspiration

I saw a video which is about when the colorblind people can actually see the colors, they are really excited. That's a really moving video, so I start to think about what we can do to help them. And the good news is that we are developers! So we decide to build some plug-ins that could help them browse the website.

What it does

We build a chrome extension which has two main features:

1. Filter

This is a filter that could apply on any website, and it's well-designed so colorblind people can find which filter they need.

2. Customize Page Selector

User can choose their own needs for the background color, text color, font size, and font-weight, and those needs would be implemented on the text filed that chosen by themselves.

How we built it

We build the chrome extension under developer mode, and we use JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to developing all the features.

Challenges we ran into

None of us built a chrome extension before, and Brenasia helps us start with the chrome tutorial. Even we get started, we still not familiar with chrome extension, so we asked for help, but other mentors are also not familiar with it. So all the challenges we ran into are basically how to make it work as our plan.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Although we don't know much when we started, we do a pretty cool job at the end of She Innovate. The current chrome extension is really helpful for people who need it, which makes us really proud.

What we learned

We learned a lot about chrome extension and more skills related to JavaScript. And as we discussed with different mentors, they could inspire us in different ways. We grouped our team after we came to She Innovate, and the interesting part is, you could really get new ideas from someone who has a different background and a different major.

What's next for Eyes Ability

We will need some experts to help us design what is best for different visual issues to improving the features. As it's a chrome extension now, it could be migrated to a different platform to help more people.
