Inspiration
A reported story said that LG added at one point added recording video from roombas to their washing machine app's terms of use. That got us thinking, what else is out there in those documents we never read?
What it does
Scans EULA's to find thinks that may put your data at risk, or other questionable finds.
How we built it
AI, digging into our web design roots, and a lot of messing around.
Challenges we ran into
About half way through we ran into a glitch that wouldn't let us push. That put us behind probably 8 hours. And left the database missing about half of it's links and the working AI page never got pushed. We also had issues file sharing because of one computer.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The extension is amazing! And so is the integrated AI for the website. They took lots of work and definitely are the gems of the project.
What we learned
We learned that we can use AI for good, and that its not nearly as difficult as one might think.
What's next for ExULA
I think the concept is great, but it isn't possible long term without paying for an API or letting users use their own. That being said, it's definitely a good demo of using AI to summarize documents, and may be a good project to pick up again in the future.
