My Hackathon Experience:
Till now I have participated in 3 hackathons hosted on Devpost.
Results
In my 1st hackathon, I stood among the top 10 participants (eventually winning the swag). In my 3rd hackathon, My project was included in the top 5 projects and it was featured on the company website as well.
What problems I faced while Participating:
The hackathons in which I participated were more like building the hackathon organizers' website by using a programming language like python. So the support team was ready to help me whenever I was facing any issues regarding their platform. But if I was stuck in creating a mini program for python then there were no mentors available for help.
Therefore having some common mentors for hackathons can surely help the participants learn and build products more efficiently.
Additional Suggestion
If a participant has successfully submitted project for more than 5 hackathons then there might be some swag giveaway from devpost team. This will encourage participants to take part in more hackathons even if they didn't end up winning any of them.
