Inspiration

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in India's economy, but entering international markets can be challenging. Understanding export requirements, documentation, compliance, and suitable target markets can be complicated, especially for small businesses with limited resources. This inspired us to develop Export IQ, an AI-powered platform that helps MSMEs understand their export readiness and make informed business decisions.

What It Does

Export IQ is designed to evaluate an MSME's export readiness using its business profile, product information, and available documentation. The platform aims to generate an export readiness score, identify potential gaps, and provide personalized recommendations to help businesses prepare for international trade.

How We Built It

Our approach combines structured, rule-based assessment with AI-powered analysis to turn business information into actionable insights. The planned workflow includes collecting business details, evaluating readiness criteria, identifying missing requirements, and generating recommendations. We aim to present the results through a simple, user-friendly dashboard.

Challenges We Faced

One of the key challenges is representing export requirements accurately because documentation and compliance rules can vary by product and destination country. Another challenge is making recommendations understandable and useful for MSMEs without overwhelming them with technical information. Addressing these challenges requires structured assessment criteria, reliable information, and clear explanations.

What We Learned

Through Export IQ, we explored how AI can support business decision-making by transforming complex information into practical insights. We also learned the importance of combining AI-generated recommendations with structured rules and verified information, particularly when compliance-related decisions are involved.

Future Scope

Future improvements could include document extraction using OCR, verified country-specific export requirements, product-based market comparisons, and multilingual support for Indian MSMEs. Our long-term vision is to make export-readiness guidance more accessible and help small businesses approach global markets with greater confidence.
