Inspiration
When we first heard the topic was exploration, we all thought of only one thing: Space. Space is incredibly vast and it is the only place that humanity has not fully explored. Space is truly the last frontier and we constantly learn new things about it every single day. Our program hopes to uncover the secrets of the 55 Cancri system through an interactive simulation with information on its various mysterious and intriguing exoplanets.
What it does
Our project is a simulation of the 55 Cancri System and provides information about these unique and little known planets.
How we built it
We built this project using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend and Python and SQL for the backend. Our main editor was VSCode.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many challenges that we were able to overcome, such as the server would not properly return the information, and our CSS elements overriding each other and not using the correct code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Accomplishments we're proud are being able to get the simulation up and running, which we thought would be the most difficult portion of the project and ultimately getting a response from the server.
What we learned
We learned a lot about HTML, CSS, and JS and how they work together, along with the difficulties that come with implementing a backend.
What's next for Exploring New Worlds - System 55 Cancri
Next, we are aiming to pull in information about each planet when you click on them in the simulation, to make it even more interactive!
