Challenge made by the director of the School of Engineering and Sciences (EIC) of Campus Monterrey
What it does
ExploreTec is an app that uses beacons as an invisible technology to make things happen "magically" in the right place and at the right time. Meaning visitors will be able to download the app while visiting the campus. Beacons will be set and located in a area or building that is representative of the campus. When ever the user get near the range of a beacon the app will sense it and pop out visual aid and a video of the spot.
How we built it
We built it using XCode with Swift 3. We also used the Beacon API.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into learning all about new tech, such as iBeacons. As well, as only having one laptop with iOS, which forced us to work better as a team in a single laptop.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of using data and software automation with new tecnology. As well as using Bluetooth technology to connect the iBeacon and the application.
What we learned
We learned about iBeacons, their functionality, and their purpose. We also learned how to identify diferent iBeacons by using their UUID.
What's next for ExploreTec
The app will have a higher reach and more reacts with a large number of iBeacons to help visitors to the School of Engineering and Sciences (EIC) of Campus Monterrey in its tour of the laboratories and spaces.
