Inspiration

We wanted to create an engaging way for users to explore space through an interactive 3D experience. Instead of presenting planets as static images, we designed a cosmic journey where users can visually explore Earth, Moon and Saturn.

What we built

Explore the Cosmos is an immersive 3D web experience built with React and React Three Fiber. It presents a space-themed environment with animated planets, a starry background, smooth hero animations and an interactive "Start Journey" experience.

How we built it

The project was developed using React, React Three Fiber, Three.js and Framer Motion. We used realistic planet textures, 3D spheres, lighting, animation and responsive UI elements to create the experience.

Challenges

One of the main challenges was combining the 3D scene with the website interface while keeping the experience visually smooth and responsive. We also worked on positioning, scaling and animations for the planets and UI elements.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how to work with React Three Fiber and Three.js, load textures, animate 3D objects, integrate Framer Motion and deploy a React application using Vercel.

Future improvements

We would like to add more planets, interactive planet information, camera controls, educational content and additional space missions in future versions.
