Our inspiration for this project was experiencing how people in our community spend a lot of time inside a building and not experiencing nature and it's many beauties.
Escape is an interactive app for people to visit national parks and go on hikes. Users then have the ability to share their experience with others through pictures which other users can like and view. Finally take quizzes about the national park they visited. Through doing all of these activities users can gain points which converts to money which they can use as discounts to other parks. People can also view information about various National Parks in the United States.
We used the design platform Figma to create our project which is an app that allows their users to make prototypes for multiple projects. We selected Figma because of their ability to move from page to page virtually without skipping through each page.
Some of the challenges we ran into was first even deciding on a project that would be beneficial to a broad range of people and also help our environment in some way. Then, another challenge we ran into was deciding which platform we wanted to use, but we quickly figured out Figma was a good fit for what we hoped to accomplish. Also, time management was a problem for us because in technology and programming there is always something else you can improve or add and there is so much more we wanted and could have added to our prototype.
We are proud that we were able to create a sufficient and appealing app that could be beneficial and help a broad range of people and realize that nature is beautiful and should be appreciated.
Through this process we learned how to use the prototype platform Figma as well as making a Sales Pitch in a stressful situation. We also learned the importance of communicating with your group, so in the end you create a successful product that every member is proud of.
In the future, we would like to add more national parks to Explore and maybe even add this app on the Apple Appstore to see actual results. We would also like to add more games and trivia questions.
