Inspiration
Nowadays, fake news is spreading everywhere due to internet growth. So many fake news detecting systems are developed and also in under development. Those systems mainly focus on English news detection. So planned to develop fake news detector for regional languages too. Initially started with Tamil language.
What it does
Using Tamil headlines dataset, the various machine learning models learn patterns and predict whether the newly entered headline is real or fake. Also using explainable AI such as LIME and SHAP provides explanation on why such prediction is made.
How we built it
Using machine learning models such as Logistic Regression, Naive Bayes, Linear SVM, Random Forest, Decision Tree, and XG Boost to learn and understand patterns. Used LIME and SHAP explainable AI to give explanation on such prediction is made.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges faced such as building and training numerous machine learning models. Evaluating its accuracy. Though the system is being developing for regional language, collecting and pre-processing made to face difficulties.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Proud of developing for our own regional language.
What we learned
About NLP (Natural Language Processing), machine learning, explainable AI, visualization and web development.
What's next for Explainable AI for Tamil Fake News Detection
Plan to develop complete user-friendly web application and dashboard.
