Inspiration

When I joined this hackathon, I forgot all the ideas for any project I wanted to do. Then I remembered that everyone has a version of this: a passport that silently expired, an ID that got you turned away at a bank counter, or a permit nobody remembered. Reminder apps were forgettable plain lists. So Expiry Ledger turns your documents into a physical bookshelf — each passport, card, and ID is a small book, ordered so the one about to lapse is always in your hand.

What it does

A 3D bookshelf carousel that organizes your documents as custom visual books (passports, IDs, cards) sorted by urgency. Includes a 30/10/5-day custom reminder chain, 100% offline local storage, PWA/APK support, and one-tap data export/import.

How we built it

Three plain files (HTML/CSS/JS) with digitally-drawn SVG books. The Android APK was assembled from the raw SDK build-tools. Installable .apk mobile app.

Challenges we ran into

Tight time duration (I absolutely understand it is my problem). And surprisingly, the idea itself — I couldn't find any better one in my head at the moment.

Accomplishments we're proud of

I am honestly proud of even joining a hackathon in my current state. Student in the last 2 years of high school, student at the AUC, and trying to improve.

What we learned

I learned that I must write down every project idea I want to make, and that I shouldn't join a hackathon 30 days after the start.

What's next for Expiry Ledger

I myself don't really know. Expiry Ledger was just one random idea I had; I don't really think that there is a next generation for Expiry Ledger.
