Inspiration

Skilled individuals are one of the highly demanding requirements in all segments. Pandemic made the skill shortage more worst. How to address the skill requirement and effectively utilize the existing skills to collaborate to handle business requirements? Expert Wall try to address the skill shortage by optimum usage of existing employees. The majority of the employees are ready to extend their support to others, which currently drives the CSR activities of the organization. Similarly, why can't we ask the experts in the company to donate their few hours for internal support?

What it does

In Expert Wall, experts will specify their expertise area, level, available date, and time for others to claim. Project or employees looking for support in a particular area can claim their time and utilize the expert time to meet the requirement. Both project and experts are getting benefited from this initiative. Experts get visibility across the organization and projects to get needed support from an expert. Moreover, those with multi-skill can engage in their aspiring skill areas outside the current assignment to expertise.

Expert Wall will benefit both the organization and its employees in multiple ways. Main benefits for Organizations are:

Challenges we ran into

QuickBase is new to us; took a bit of time to understand the navigations and flows.

Accomplishments

Expert Wall can be embraced by IT and non-IT organizations, which brings more collaborative culture and satisfied employees. Direct communication between a collaborator and an expert addresses the requirements quickly.

What we learned

Great learning, understood the power of low code platform and its flexibilities. Explored tables, forms, dashboards, formulas, rules, etc.

What's next for Expert Wall

Integration with email and organization's internal systems will bring value to Expert Wall. Employee details should be integrated from existing ERP systems and the expert contributions should be shared back with learning/appraisal/awards systems. Similarly tracking on unused expert times will help the team to optimize the utilization.
