Inspiration
History has always been a difficult subject for me to understand based on textbook passages and documentaries. I always enjoy physically visiting historical sites but it's still hard to imagine what it was really like in the past. When I thought about what could make history more immersive, augmented realty jumped out at me as an exciting opportunity to truly grasp history!
What it does
You select time periods and significant dates as you explore physical points of interest. An AR experience will then display on your device immersing you to experience historical sights, sounds and events.
Stand amongst the Boston Massacre, cross the Rubicon with Caesar, see the open air markets of 1800 France and other historical scenes around the globe!

The functionality of this app can be used around the world for all audiences. This app allows tourism to thrive, attracting more visitors and cultural impact.
Non profit organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund, can further highlight the need to care for animals by showcasing endangered animals in AR.
How we built it
Android Studio to create an Android app based in Kotlin Adobe Aero to test out the 3D objects Google Maps API to display a map with a pinned location ARCore for AR capabilities on the mobile device Monster Mash to create a 3D object from a 2D image
Challenges we ran into
Time constraints Learning new technologies Figuring out how to create 3D objects of historical events
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm really proud to have learned how to create an AR experience for a proof of concept. I'm excited for the potential of this technology to help teach others about historical events and to enrich travel experiences around the world.
What we learned
