Inspiration

Since many people are stuck at home due to the pandemic, most would look towards their subscriptions such as Netflix, Spotify, or Hulu to pass the time. All of us have subscriptions and use them daily. We wanted to look for a way to manage these subscriptions and save money.

What it does

The idea is to create a website to empower consumers to better manage their payments for ongoing subscription services such as Amazon, Spotify, iCloud, DropBox, and so on. The focus of this website should be to help detect and manage consumers’ subscriptions once they fall into disuse. From our experience with subscriptions, we found it helpful to have an app that keeps track of all the subscriptions while setting a budget and giving regular updates to optimize money being used. There is a budget tracker that compares the user's budget to their monthly spending. There is also a spending tracker that displays the amount of money spent on each separate service.

How we built it

We built the website using HTML. We coded everything on Sublime and then transferred it onto Github in order to get a Github Pages link.

Challenges we ran into

Throughout our journey through creating our website, we encountered various complications. At first, we planned to make the subscription management plan on an app since it seemed more ideal. However, we had problems with Android Studio and Github where it wouldn’t allow us all to edit the same project. Thus, we decided on a website. At first, we had a problem with our website template since we were unable to get the colors and format. Through the help of a mentor, we were able to realize that we didn’t download to color and format files with the rest of our code. Later we used the app Sublime to code the rest of our website successfully.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that we were able to create an entire website in such a short amount of time. We managed to code a functioning website that, with a few tweaks, can be used by people in real life.
