CrisisThink π About the Project
CrisisThink is a web-based platform designed to assist people during emergencies and crisis situations by providing quick access to essential resources, guidance, and community support. The idea behind this project was inspired by the increasing need for organized, accessible, and real-time information during natural disasters, health emergencies, and unexpected critical situations.
In many crises, people struggle to find reliable information quickly. CrisisThink aims to bridge this gap by acting as a centralized hub where users can find help, report issues, and connect with others.
π‘ Inspiration
The inspiration for CrisisThink came from observing how chaotic and unstructured information can become during emergencies. Whether it's floods, accidents, or health crises, people often waste valuable time searching for help.
We wanted to create a platform that:
Provides instant access to emergency resources Helps users locate shelters and support services Encourages community-driven assistance π οΈ How We Built It
CrisisThink was developed as a modern web application using:
React.js for building a dynamic and responsive user interface Vite for fast development and performance optimization React Router for seamless navigation between pages Context API for state management across the application CSS for styling and layout Key Features: π Map Integration for locating shelters and resources π Report System for users to report emergencies π Dashboard & Analytics for insights π€ Community Section to connect volunteers and users π Guides & Resources for crisis preparedness π§ What We Learned
Through this project, we learned:
How to build a scalable frontend architecture using React Managing global state efficiently using Context API Handling real-time updates and UI responsiveness Improving team collaboration and version control using Git & GitHub Understanding the importance of user-centric design in critical systems β οΈ Challenges We Faced π Managing multiple components and routes efficiently β‘ Handling hot reload and state updates (Vite issues) 𧩠Designing a UI that is both simple and informative during emergencies π Integrating different modules like maps, reporting, and analytics smoothly π οΈ Debugging environment issues like Git setup and PowerShell restrictions π Future Improvements π Add real-time alerts and notifications π‘ Integrate live data APIs for weather and disaster updates π± Improve mobile responsiveness π€ Add AI-based recommendations for crisis handling πΊοΈ Enhance map features with real-time tracking β€οΈ Conclusion
CrisisThink is more than just a project β it is a step towards building a smarter, safer, and more connected society during emergencies. Our goal is to make crisis management more accessible, efficient, and community-driven.
