Expense Management System

Inspiration

I wanted to create a simple and practical system to help users keep track of their daily expenses while applying the C programming concepts I learned in my first semester.

What it does

The system allows users to add, view, edit, delete, and analyze expenses, calculate total spending, and save records permanently using file handling.

How we built it

We built it using C, using structures, functions, loops, conditional statements, string handling, and file handling. The application uses a simple menu-driven console interface.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges were handling file storage, updating and deleting records, and properly validating user input.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a fully functional expense management system from scratch and successfully implemented permanent data storage and category-based reports.

What we learned

We learned how to build a complete C application, work with files and structures, organize code using functions, debug problems, and manage data efficiently.

What's next for Expense Management System

We plan to add a GUI, user accounts, budgets, charts, advanced reports, database storage, and eventually web or mobile support.
