Inspiration
We were inspired by the history of ecotourism and uptake of conscious brands, glaciers, ringed seals, and the arctic tundra.
What it does
THE PEAK TERRAINERS are a high performance, comfortable hiking shoe that lights up when responding to movement, are fully weatherproof, and bring awareness to the climate risks of the Arctic.
How I built it
We programmed various parts of the shoe outsoles in Cinema 4D, and programmed the Knit upper and insole in m1. It was printed, knit and glued together from the various components, and installed with arduino and adafruit LED components.
Challenges I ran into
Printing the complicated structures, transferring code into the LED controllers, shaping the knit upper.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Constructing an entire shoe in 36 hours, successful teamwork, creating a vision and purpose around a product.
What I learned
Shoes are hard!
