Inspiration

History is full of pivotal moments, including the dinosaurs and medieval civilizations, that shaped our world. We were inspired by the question: what if things happened differently? This idea of alternate timelines drove us to explore the unknown.

What it does

Expedition in Time is an interactive timeline that lets users explore historical events and imagine “what if” scenarios. It presents key moments in a clean, visual way to make history more engaging and thought-provoking.

How we built it

We built the interface using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, focusing on a modern, intuitive UI/UX. We designed timeline components and structured events to be easily navigable and visually appealing. For the video generation we used Veo.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was designing a timeline that was both visually clean and easy to interact with. Another was balancing creativity (what-if scenarios) with clarity so users wouldn’t feel overwhelmed.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a polished, user-friendly interface that makes history feel interactive rather than static. The concept of combining timelines with alternate scenarios also stands out as unique.

What we learned

We learned how important UI/UX design is in making information engaging. We also gained experience structuring data visually and designing interfaces that guide user exploration.

What's next for Expedition in Time

Next, we want to expand the number of events, add deeper “what-if” simulations, and potentially integrate AI to dynamically generate alternate history scenarios for users.
