Inspiration
Claire Obscur: Expedition 33 - one of the best games I've played in a long time
What it does
- This a rough damage calculator for any character skill
- Attempted to work in conditionals, buffs, debuffs, statuses, pictos damage multipliers, and anything else that influences damage
- Numbers may be slightly off, as damage rounding and source information is not guaranteed to be correct
- Fairly accurate to in game testing (primarily Maelle)
- Note, some advanced skills (such as Burning Canvas), do not necessarily account for max damage or max consumable stacks
- Built for Desktop
How we built it
- 100% within Bolt, initially provided a Typescript file with key interfaces as well as data as JSON files
Challenges we ran into
- Initially, was going to be building this as a full planner, including weapon calculations and stat totals, scaling with character level and attributes
- Certain challenges and lack of necessary data came up, complexity and time changed direction to a specialized function for damage calculation
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- This whole thing pretty much, first fully deployed app, first Next.js app, first of many
What we learned
- Next.js
- Typescript
- Deployment Process
What's next for Expedition 33 Damage Calculator
- Eventually add in functionality for more complex situations and skill damage calculations
- adding in Burn Damage calculations
- adding in the full planner, or at least an importable function to build the configuration from a planner
- it would be pretty cool to simulate turns between characters (i.e. Burn Stacks applied by Verso, to Sciel applying Fortune's Fury to Maelle, etc).
Built With
- bolt.new
- entri
- netlify
- next.js
- typescript
