What inspired Us?
Mr Tucker's Cirrus introduction piqued our attention in our topic for the first time. During his lecture, his never-ending excitement enticed us to pay close attention. We gathered from his presentation that clearing is a big problem in the United Kingdom. This struck a chord with our group because we are all students who have gone through or will go through the college application process. We felt that if we can design an appropriate solution to this problem, we would not only help our grade level of college applicants but also aid the next generation go through this wasteful and desperate procedure. Our group had some difficulties at first. Only two of our four group members knew Javascript, and one of us was a complete novice who had to learn the fundamentals of Javascript while developing his webpage. Each person's CSS layout was also inconsistent, causing confusion and slowing our work. However, when we began to collaborate and communicate more effectively, these issues began to fade. To make our coding experience more efficient, we were able to develop a consistent colour palette and typeface. Finally, we were able to construct a working prototype of our concept.
What does our Website do?
Our website serves as an interactive planner for future university students in the Clearing process. Our design philosophy is to give students with helpful tools rather than waiting for colleges to make adjustments. Students may create a wishlist of colleges, obtain all essential information about clearing through hyperlinks, and manage their time by watching the call traffic tracker and determining which universities are more likely to take a call on our website.
Manufacturing the Product:
HTML, CSS, and Javascript are used to create our website. Each group member was in charge of a certain page (home, tracker, wishlist, etc.) that was assembled into a single website once everyone in our group contributed their code via our private discord conversation.
Challenges we ran into:
At initially, our group experienced some challenges. Only two of our four group members understood Javascript, and one of us was a total newbie who had to learn the foundations of the language while working on his homepage. The CSS layouts of each person were also inconsistent, which caused confusion and slowed our efforts. These difficulties began to diminish as we began to work and communicate more efficiently. We were able to develop a consistent colour palette and typography to make our coding experience more productive. We were finally able to create a partly functional prototype of our concept.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
It was not about winning or losing! It has and will always be the knowledge we gathered on the way till here! It's been an amazing journey for every one of us. We socialized and this made our communication skills stronger. Being from different countries of the world, it has been an amazing experience to get to know a lot about the teaching and other practises regarding various fields. We learnt programming, explained concepts, took part in each other's doubt solving process and much more...
There's a lot to talk about and it can't be explained in a short amount of words! It has been an amazing journey with ups-and-downs which did nothing but moulded us in being better at things!
