Inspiration

As a previous teacher and student, I wish I had a tool to help me preparing exercise tailored to each of my students depending on their skills and level, or even train myself as a student on a specific domain. From this experience and the homeworks that my daughter has to do, the idea of creating an exercise generator came to me.

What it does

Exercise Generator serves as a powerful demonstration of the capabilities of Generative AI in Adaptive Learning. It allows teachers or students to generate adaptive exercises for students based on their grade, previous mark, and selected subject. With just a few inputs, educators can obtain exercises tailored to challenge students according to their skill level. It also generates the solution for the exercise, so that the teacher or student has the possibility to check his/her answers and evaluate his/her progression.

Challenges I ran into

The main challenge was to craft the most useful and interesting exercises adapted to the student's grade and previous mark. I had to work iteratively on the prompt to refine the exercises, to check if the result was consistent enough.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The application generated some great exercises. As a previous teacher, or even a student, I think that I could have used such application for my daily work. I'm proud to have built something that can be useful for learning. I'm planning to use it for my daughter who is learning to read this year.

What I learned

Generative AI is a powerful technology that will disrupt every filed and especially learning. I've come to understand the importance of integrating this technology into teaching methodologies, as it offers significant benefits for both students and educators.

What's next for Exercise Generator

The Exercise Generator could evolve into either a standalone application or a component of a broader educational or homework management system. Some aspects would have to be refined (fix the grades, define the previous marks more specifically). Or maybe a new AWS service dedicated to Learning ?
