Inspiration

Students use scattered WhatsApp groups, Telegram, and social media for buying, selling, renting, and finding roommates. We wanted to bring these needs into one trusted platform.

What it does

Exelll is a student-focused marketplace where users can buy/sell products, find roommates and rentals, chat with other students, manage orders, and discover opportunities.

How we built it

Built using Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, Node.js, Express.js, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Clerk, and Cloudinary.

Challenges we ran into

Managing authentication, real-time communication, database relationships, image uploads, and deployment while keeping the platform reliable and user-friendly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We turned the idea into a live product with 160+ users and successfully implemented core marketplace, messaging, profile, and order features.

What we learned

We learned practical full-stack development, deployment, database management, debugging, and how to improve a product using real user feedback.

What's next for Exelll

We plan to expand roommate/rental features, add internships and student opportunities, improve trust and safety, and expand to more campuses.
