What is Executive Pulse Agent?

Executive Pulse Agent is an AI-powered executive assistant built on Salesforce Agent force that enables business leaders to monitor organizational performance, ask business questions, and receive proactive recommendations—all through Slack.

The agent connects securely to Salesforce CRM to retrieve live business data from standard objects such as Opportunities, Accounts, Cases, Tasks, and Contracts. It analyzes key business metrics including revenue, sales pipeline, customer health, opportunity risks, renewals, and business activities, transforming raw CRM data into executive-ready insights.

Inspiration

As a Salesforce implementation partner, we work with sales and delivery leaders every day who all say some version of the same thing: "I know the answer is somewhere in Salesforce, I just don't have time to go find it." Revenue, pipeline health, at-risk deals, renewals — it's all sitting in the CRM, but turning that data into something a busy executive can act on in the next five minutes usually means waiting on an analyst to pull a report, or clicking through several dashboards that were stale the moment they were built.

At the same time, we noticed how naturally people already talk to each other in Slack — quick questions, quick answers, no context-switching. That gave us the idea: what if leadership visibility worked the same way? Instead of one more dashboard nobody opens, what if the CRM could just answer questions directly, in the tool executives already live in every day? That question became Executive Pulse Agent, our submission for the Slack Agent Builder Challenge 2026.

What it does

The agent supports three core capabilities:

Executive Business Summaries: Automatically generates concise AI-powered summaries of overall business performance, highlighting revenue, pipeline health, customer issues, business risks, key achievements, and recommended leadership priorities.

Business Question & Answer: Allows executives to ask natural language questions such as "What is today's revenue?", "Which deals are closing this week?", or "Show pipeline by stage." The agent intelligently identifies the user's intent, retrieves the required Salesforce data, analyzes it, and responds with clear, actionable business insights instead of raw CRM records.

Proactive Business Recommendations: Continuously monitors business conditions such as stalled opportunities, declining pipeline, high-value deals at risk, customer escalations, overdue activities, and upcoming renewals. When significant business events are detected, it proactively notifies leaders in Slack with AI-generated recommendations and prioritized next steps to help drive timely business decisions.

By combining live Salesforce CRM data with AI-driven analysis, Executive Pulse Agent provides executives with real-time visibility into business performance, accelerates decision-making, reduces manual reporting, and enables proactive management of revenue, pipeline, customer relationships, and operational risks.

Example Queries Revenue and Pipeline Health • What is today's revenue? • Show the sales pipeline summary. • Show pipeline by stage. • Which opportunities are closing this week? • Which opportunities are at risk? • Show the high-value at-risk opportunities. Customer Issues • Which customers have open escalations? • Show upcoming contract renewals. Prioritized Recommendations • What activities are due today? • Give me today's executive business summary. • What are the key business risks? • What should leadership focus on today? • Give me AI recommendations for improving pipeline health. • Show business performance for today. Give me a complete executive overview.

How we built it

We built Executive Pulse Agent natively on Agentforce, using it as the reasoning and orchestration layer between Slack and Salesforce. The agent is configured with distinct topics/intents mapped to our three core capabilities, each with its own retrieval logic across the relevant standard objects (Opportunity, Account, Case, Task, Contract).

For the proactive layer, the agent continuously monitors business conditions — stalled opportunities, declining pipeline, high-value deals at risk, customer escalations, overdue activities, and upcoming renewals — directly against live Salesforce data, so it can flag issues automatically rather than requiring a human to notice them first.

On the delivery side, everything is Slack-native: the agent responds inside a dedicated executive channel, so there's zero context-switching between a report, a dashboard, and a conversation. We iterated heavily on prompt design to make sure responses read like something a Chief of Staff would say — concise, prioritized, and actionable — rather than a dump of CRM fields.

Challenges we ran into

• Distinguishing similar intents. "Show me revenue," "give me a business summary," and "how's the business doing today" all sound close to a human but need to route to very different data pulls. Getting intent detection reliable across natural phrasing variations (including typos and casual shorthand) took several rounds of refinement.
• Handling conversational follow-ups. In our live demo, a leader asks for revenue, then narrows it with "now just this month's," then simply "only this month's." Making the agent correctly carry context across that kind of short, fragmented follow-up — without the person having to restate the full question each time — was one of the harder conversational design problems.
• Avoiding alert fatigue. A proactive agent that pings leadership constantly stops being useful fast. We had to tune thresholds so recommendations only surface for genuinely significant risk, not every minor pipeline fluctuation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

_A single agent that genuinely does three jobs well. Executive Pulse Agent doesn't feel like three separate bots stitched together — the same conversation can move from a full business summary, to a specific data question, to a proactive risk alert, and it all feels like one consistent assistant.

Handling real, messy conversational input. Our live demo shows the agent correctly following a fragmented back-and-forth — "give revenue details" → "now just this month's" → "only this month's" — without the leader ever having to restate the full question. That kind of context-carrying is easy to describe and hard to actually get working reliably.

Explainable risk detection, not a black box. The agent doesn't just say "this deal is at risk" — it can walk through why (deal size, days inactive, time to close) and recommend a next step tied directly to that reasoning, which is what makes the recommendation actually actionable for a leader instead of just another alert to dismiss.

Zero manual reporting, start to finish. Every response — the daily summary, the pipeline breakdown, the risk flag — is generated live from Salesforce data at the moment it's asked for. Nothing is templated or pre-written, which means the agent stays accurate as the underlying CRM data changes.

Built and demoed entirely inside Slack. No separate app, no new login, no dashboard to remember to check — leadership gets executive-grade insight in the same tool they already use for everything else._

What we learned

**Designing an agent that has to be three different assistants at once — summarizer, analyst, and proactive monitor — without feeling like three disconnected tools bolted together turned out to be a much bigger design challenge than we expected going in.

We also learned a lot about the gap between "the agent retrieved the correct data" and "the agent gave an executive-ready answer" — those are not the same problem, and closing that gap took as much prompt and tone iteration as it did data engineering.**

What's next for Executive Pulse Agent

• Expand the data footprint. Bring in more Salesforce objects and custom fields beyond the current set (Opportunities, Accounts, Cases, Tasks, Contracts) so summaries, answers, and alerts can cover an even wider range of business questions.
• Team and role-based views. Let different leaders (sales, delivery, customer success) get a version of the daily summary and alerts tailored to what matters most for their function.
• Deeper conversational memory. Extend the agent's ability to follow longer, multi-turn conversations in Slack so leaders can keep drilling down without having to restate context.
• Broader distribution. Roll the agent out to more Slack channels and teams across the organization, beyond the initial executive channel used in this demo.
