About the Project
What inspired you to build this?
Regrettably, while contemplating my hackathon submission, I became entangled in a philosophical debate with a council of procrastinating developers who had gathered in my local coffee shop. The discussion centered around the existential nature of deadlines and whether they truly exist in a universe where time is merely a social construct.
During this heated intellectual exchange, a rogue AI assistant began generating increasingly elaborate excuses for why projects remain unfinished. I realized this was not just a bug, but a feature the world desperately needed.
What did you learn?
Through extensive field research (involving multiple deadline extensions and creative storytelling), I discovered that humans have an insatiable appetite for perfectly crafted excuses. I learned the delicate art of balancing absurdity with sincerity, and that the best excuses always involve at least three unlikely characters and one impossibly bureaucratic process.
How did you build your project?
The development process was interrupted numerous times by a territorial dispute between my keyboard and a family of dust bunnies who had established a small municipality under my desk. After negotiating a peace treaty (witnessed by my houseplant, who served as neutral mediator), I was able to proceed with React, JavaScript, and an unhealthy amount of creative writing.
What challenges did you face?
The primary challenge was explaining to the Victorian ghost haunting my development environment why modern web applications don't require punch cards. Additionally, my cat declared himself project manager and insisted all meetings be conducted at 3 AM with mandatory tuna breaks.
Most sincerely yours in hackathon solidarity, The Excuse Hotline Development Team
