Inspiration

Students often prepare for exams with scattered PDFs, random YouTube videos, incomplete notes, and very limited time. Many study hard but still miss important topics because they don’t know what matters most. We wanted to build a system that reduces chaos and helps students prepare smarter, faster, and with more confidence.

What it does

ExamWise AI is an AI-powered exam preparation platform that combines study resources into one intelligent workspace.

It allows students to: Upload syllabi, notes, question papers, and documents Add YouTube lectures and use transcripts as study sources Chat with an AI assistant for exam-focused guidance Discover trending topics through Hot Topics insights Identify missed areas through Blind Spot checking Generate Last Minute Prep plans with likely questions, mnemonics, revision priorities, and what to skip

The goal is to help students focus on the highest-impact preparation.

How we built it

We built ExamWise AI using:

Next.js for frontend and backend routes Node.js for server logic MongoDB Atlas for cloud data storage Gemini AI for intelligent responses and context-aware study assistance Vercel for deployment

We created a knowledge base system for uploaded resources, transcript ingestion for YouTube content, personalized chat flows, and multi-user activity signals for Hot Topics.

Challenges we ran into

Parsing different file formats and extracting usable content Managing prompt context efficiently with token limits Building reliable multi-user persistence and cloud deployment Designing a clean workflow without overwhelming students Converting raw transcripts and documents into useful study context

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a full-stack working product from idea to deployment Combined AI chat, document ingestion, transcripts, and trend intelligence in one platform Created Last Minute Prep for real student urgency scenarios Implemented Hot Topics and Blind Spot features to reduce missed preparation areas Shipped a live prototype with real-world usability

What we learned

We learned that students don’t just need more content—they need clarity, prioritization, and confidence. We also learned that execution speed, product focus, and solving a real pain point matter more than adding too many features.

What's next for ExamWise-AI
