Inspiration

We were inspired by the idea of giving every student a personal tutor powered by AI — someone who could be available anytime, anywhere, to guide them through tough exam preparations. Traditional study methods can feel overwhelming, so we wanted to make learning easier, faster, and more engaging.

What it does

ExamAce AI Tutor provides students with a personalized AI-driven tutoring experience. It answers questions, explains concepts, generates practice questions, and guides students step-by-step to help them master their subjects — all through smart AI conversations.

How we built it

We built the frontend using Vite, TypeScript, and React for high-speed performance and a clean architecture. For the UI, we used shadcn-ui and Tailwind CSS to ensure a modern, mobile-friendly design. We integrated Vapi AI for conversational voice interactions and Gemini AI API for intelligent answer generation. The app is hosted on Vercel for fast global deployment.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was balancing speed and accuracy when working with multiple AI APIs. We also faced issues handling real-time conversations smoothly on mobile devices, and securing API keys while maintaining fast client-side responses. Another challenge was designing a UI that felt simple yet powerful for students of all ages.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud that we created a real, working AI tutor that is lightweight, mobile-friendly, and genuinely helpful to students. Successfully integrating voice-based interaction with smart AI-generated content was a major technical accomplishment.

What we learned

We learned a lot about real-world AI integration, particularly how to manage prompt engineering for educational purposes. We also improved our skills in designing fast, responsive React apps, and learned best practices for combining multiple AI services while keeping the app lightweight.

What's next for ExamAce AI Tutor

We plan to add features like personalized study plans, topic tracking, more subject areas, and progress reports. We also want to integrate multilingual support and enhance voice recognition for even smoother conversations. Ultimately, we aim to make ExamAce a full AI-powered study companion that can help students succeed globally.
