Inspiration

Studying across articles, PDFs, notes, and videos usually leaves learners with disconnected summaries and little evidence of what they have actually understood. NeatMind turns those sources into an active, traceable study loop.

What it does

NeatMind is a Chrome side-panel extension that helps learners turn a source into a structured study chapter:

  • Capture a web page, PDF, note, or video transcript only after an explicit action.
  • Generate a visual tutor note, connected concept map, and concise cheat sheet that remain linked to the supporting passages or timestamps.
  • Create active-recall quizzes and record demonstrated mastery, weak concepts, and progress over time.
  • Organize material into named Journey chapters. Each chapter grows into an interactive Learning Forest as evidence, notes, and quiz results are added.
  • Start a lightweight timed Focus session to reduce distractions while studying.
  • Export generated study material as DOCX or PDF.

How it works

The extension lets the learner choose a chapter and explicitly save sources to it. A local Node.js service processes bounded source text through an AI provider, validates the generated structure and supporting evidence, and returns a visual lesson or quiz. Every saved source, note, and result stays attached to its stable chapter rather than being lost in a disposable chat.

For video learning, NeatMind uses available captions, user-provided transcripts, public-video analysis, or explicit tab-audio capture. Evidence is labelled so learners can distinguish caption-grounded content from AI-estimated timestamps.

Why it matters

NeatMind is designed for more than quick summaries: it creates a repeatable evidence-to-mastery loop. Learners can see where an idea came from, practise recalling it, identify weak areas, and decide what to study next.
