Inspiration
It started when I began studying for my own exams. I realized I needed something to schedule my prep, something to test me, and something that kept me from running between ten different websites just to study. I wanted everything connected in one place. This isn't just some random project idea. It came directly from a problem I was living through myself, and the solution I built is meant to be more than just an SAT prep website, it's the tool I wish I had.
What it does
Exam Cracker AI turns your syllabus into a day by day study plan you'll actually follow. It splits every topic into Learn and Practice sessions, reserves a rapid revision day before your exam, and tracks your progress and streaks so you stay accountable. Beyond planning, it has a Doubt Solver Agent powered by Gemini that explains concepts step-by-step instead of just giving answers, a Quiz Yourself feature to test what you know on any topic, a Daily Journal to plan your day and mood, a Focus Timer to keep you on track, and a Free Library of curated resources- including dedicated SAT tools like Bluebook, Khan Academy, and Desmos.
How I built it
I built it with Python and Flask on the backend, SQLite for storage, and Jinja2 templating with HTML/CSS/JavaScript on the frontend. The quiz generator and doubt-solving agent are powered by Google's Gemini API. I built it feature by feature, starting with the core scheduler, then adding the journal, quiz generator, and finally the AI doubt-solving agent for this hackathon.
Challenges I ran into
One big challenge was trying to add Spotify integration into the Pomodoro focus timer, so users could play music while studying. I spent a good amount of time trying to get the Spotify API key working, but I eventually had to drop the idea, it wasn't coming together the way I wanted, and I didn't want it to hold back the rest of the project.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud that I successfully integrated the Gemini API to power both the quiz generator and the doubt-solving agent, turning Exam Cracker AI from a simple planner into something that actually teaches and adapts to the student using it.
What I learned
I learned that nothing is impossible if you're willing to work hard at it. I also learned that dropping an idea, like I did with Spotify, doesn't mean losing; it means taking a smarter step toward a better goal. Knowing when to let go of something that isn't working is its own kind of progress.
What's next for Exam Cracker AI
I want to make Exam Cracker AI much bigger- my goal is for it to work even better than tools like NotebookLM for students, becoming a genuine all in one AI study companion that any student, especially those without access to expensive tutoring, can rely on.
