Inspiration

In a country where education often feels more like a business than a right, we wanted to create something different—something actually helpful. EVSBook was born out of frustration with overpriced resources and a desire to make environmental science accessible, interactive, and student-friendly.

What it does

EVSBook provides EVS students in India with quizzes, flashcards, and concise notes—all in one smooth, no-nonsense platform. Whether it's prepping for exams or just brushing up on topics, students can finally stop digging through overpriced guidebooks and start learning smarter.

How we built it

We used bolt.new to quickly build a clean, responsive interface tailored to students. The focus was on simplicity and speed: a lightweight site that loads fast, looks good on mobile, and doesn’t bury you in ads or distractions.

Challenges we ran into

Making it engaging yet minimal was tricky. Striking the right tone between academic and approachable took some tweaking. Also, keeping everything lightweight without sacrificing functionality meant we had to be clever with how we stored and displayed content.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We actually made something useful—free and accessible. And the reaction from students has been encouraging. It’s rewarding to know we’re offering a solid alternative to paywalled apps and overpriced books.

What we learned

Students want clarity and convenience. You don’t need flashy gimmicks, just useful tools and clear content. Bolt made that easy, and we learned how powerful simple tech + the right intent can be.

What’s next for EVSBook

We’re planning to add more topics, introduce performance tracking, and maybe even enable offline access. Plus, we’re eyeing other subjects too—because students deserve better across the board.
