Problem Overview
Quarter life crisis is the emergence feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and confusion with the purpose of life. In this phase people usually tend to questioning, doubting their own life, becoming unstable and fragile. Yale Medicine reports that many people have encountered quarter-life crisis in their 20s. The quarter-life crisis may happen due to many reasons such as insecurity, identity confusion, social media, environment, etc. As a result, many people suffer not just mentally but also physically.
Evolvia: The Solution
This is Evolvia, a newly established application aiming to unleash hidden potential and skills within yourself.
Evolvia 1.0 version offers features to help people encountering quarter life crisis. For this version, our primary goal is to increase people's quality of life from the smallest steps by improving their routines (Because your health REALLY matters for the future).
What it does
With lifestyle detection you can see your habit quality and telling what's wrong with your routine. For future development we will also have facial fatigue detection which can detect your fatigueness. Using our feature, the earlier you know, the earlier you can change your life.
How we built it
Tools and technology we used:
- K-Means Clustering for lifestyle detection
- Front-end using Bootstrap
- Back-end using Flask
- Deployment with Amazon Web Service
Challenges we ran into
At first we want to implement 2 features in one go: lifestyle detection and facial fatigue detection. But unfortunately due to storage and memory limitations from the cloud we can't put the object detection algorithm into it.
Another challenge is doing the front-end in parallel with UI/UX. Usually we'll wait the UI Designer to complete the design. But since we don't have much time we decide to do it both at the same time! what he design we'll implement it directly, right here and right now.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our biggest accomplishments is successful of the deployment. That is actually the hardest part because usually we only make, save, and predict it on jupyter notebook but we never really implement it into a ready-to-use website! we're so glad that we actually did it and now people can do the detection live in our website.
What we learned
We learned the complete stage on how to build a website from the scratch, from designing and until the deployment process, it is surreal. We also learned to keep it cool whenever problem and error occur. The more we panic, the more we can't solve it. It is really important to have each other as a team and communicate everything.
What's next for Evolvia
Our future goal is making evolvia into a community-based application where people can share their thoughts about encountering the quarter life crisis and making a safe place for them to support each other. We hope that whenever someone think about safe place to learn and improve, they'll remember evolvia in their mind.
We really excited to continue the development since this is our very first version of website. We also want to implement it on android apps and adding learning path & skill class so our user can explore their talent and potential. Furthermore, we also want to get our revenue. But since this is the first release so the most important thing we want to achieve is: getting our customer and their feedback for future development iteration.
