Inspiration
Our inspiration for Evolutionary was from an old game called spore. In spore, you go from being a single celled organism to a spacefaring civilization. We took this idea and made it a clicker game.
What it does
Evolutionary is a game where you start as a single bacteria floating aimlessly, but press the clone button, and that single bacteria has a chance of duplicating and EVOLVING.
How we built it
We used Visual Studio Code to code, and Kleki for the visuals. We also used github Copilot for some javascript code.
Challenges we ran into
There was a glitch that we ran into, that caused the textures to reset themselves every time a new one was added, which made our game feel very unnatural, and empty, but we eventually fixed it. There was also a major problem with the skins, but we fixed that too.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This might be the most complex thing we ever programmed in JavaScript, and we are very proud of it. The upgrades was probably the hardest part, but at the same time, made the most impact to our game.
What we learned
We learned the importance of making sure all assets had the right name. That was the cause of the skin glitch.
What's next for Evolutionary
Next, we hope to add some more skins, background, and evolutions!
