Inspiration

Ever since the launch of Evmos, there were a number of NFTs that ended up being rug pulls, stolen art, or simply background swaps. That left a sour taste among NFT enthusiasts who are in Evmos. We want to change that. Our team is passionate about NFTs and their potential to bring people together. We experienced it firsthand during the infamous collapse of the Terra blockchain. Hence, Evmos Punks is a NFT collection that is uniquely designed for Evmos. Our art is partly inspired by Galactic Punks (Terra), Crypto Punks (Ethereum), and pop culture icons that shaped our youth.

What it does

At its heart, Evmos Punks is a community project aimed to increase the awareness and adoption of Evmos Blockchain. In our opinion, every good blockchain needs an Apex PFP project. Adding on to that, we’re working on a new NFT contract standard, code-named - ERC721v. “V” stands for Vesting.

Basically, it’s a NFT that you can request a refund. After the mint contract will release 10% of the funds collected to the contract deployers. And in the next 9 months, it will unlock 10% each month. 1 day before it unlocks a fund for deployers, it will unlock refund functionality for minters. So after a month, you can take 90% of the mint price back to your account. Effectively nullifying the rugpullers.

How we built it

We’ve completed our art, minter front end, and basic contract interactions. We’re experimenting with different vesting contracts available on OpenZeppelin.

Challenges we ran into

The Main 2 challenges were and still are 1) the uniqueness of the PFP art, and 2) the security of the contract. The former, we’ve solved. The latter, we haven’t finished.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’ve created original art that is unique to Evmos Punks. Our Punks look distinct from different Punk-themed NFT collections.

What we learned

We learned that setting incremental deadlines for ourselves really helps us to consistently push our product forward. And security is the biggest challenge when it comes to “anything” crypto.
