Inspiration
We wanted to change the world by reducing carbon emissions and putting more money in the pocket's of everyday people by connecting them to cost effective vehicle solutions.
What it does
Our web application compares vehicles and analyzes their cost of operation over a 5 year period as well as the net CO2 emitted over a 5 year period. This allows citizens to find the most cost-effective and least polluting vehicle.
How we built it
We built the web application using django, python, html, css, bootstrap and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
One of our toughest challenges was designing the front-end. We had a hard time styling the django forms. We were not able to finish it in time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are most proud of our ability to collaborate. This was our first hackathon, and we used git in an expert fashion to keep everything as professional and well-documented as possible.
What we learned
We learned that if like-minded individuals work relentlessly together for hours upon end, then anything is possible; the sky is the limit.
What's next for EVGV (Electric Vehicles Vs. Gas Vehicles)
The next step for us is to actually make this website functional. We also want to find a database of emission data during the manufacturing of cars. We were unable to find such a database to complete our web application.
