Inspiration

We were inspired by absurdist humor and games that turn ordinary objects into weapons. The idea of "Everything Is a Gun" came from imagining what it would be like if literally anything could be weaponized — from pizza slices to rubber ducks. We wanted to create a fun, chaotic, and unpredictable gameplay experience that pokes fun at traditional shooter tropes.

What it does

"Everything Is a Gun" is a fast-paced arcade-style shooter where players use unconventional items as firearms. Instead of typical guns, players cycle through objects like pizza slices, rubber ducks, and sharks — each with unique firing mechanics and effects. The core game mode is a chaotic “gun game” style battle royale where players have to find weapons they can use in the map.

How we built it

We built this by making custom guns and maps using existing horizon world assets

Challenges we ran into

Making each “gun” feel distinct and mechanically interesting while using non-traditional objects.

Balancing humor and gameplay — some objects were funny but didn’t translate well into enjoyable weapons.

Collision and hit detection with odd shapes like sharks or floppy pizzas required custom colliders and adjustments.

Making sure players could visually recognize each item quickly in the middle of fast action.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully creating a dozen unique "object guns" that each bring humor and variety to gameplay.

Building a strong and smooth progression system that maintains balance in such an unconventional shooter.

Seeing testers burst into laughter when discovering the next item in their arsenal — exactly the reaction we were aiming for.

What we learned

The importance of iterative design, especially when mixing humor with mechanics.

Unity's physics system has limitations with oddly shaped models, and sometimes custom solutions are required.

Playtesting early and often was key to making the absurdity work with the gameplay, not against it.

What's next for Everything Is a Gun

Adding multiplayer support to bring chaotic fun to friends and online players.

Expanding the item arsenal to include more hilarious and unexpected objects like toasters, fish, or chairs.

Introducing boss battles and a story mode featuring an evil armory turning the world into a weaponized playground.

Publishing the game on Steam and mobile for a wider audience to enjoy the chaos.
